You can recreate a
picture of events of the Crimean or the Eastern war, which is
connected with the Crimean
peninsula. You may
visit former battlefields at Inkerman and at the Alma river of the
Russians and the British and French soldiers in 1854-55. You will
visit Balaklava, a former base of the British troops and you can
see the Balaklava Harbour , a berth of the British ships at that
time; you will see the Balaklava Plain where the Charge of the Light
Brigade took place; Kamysh harbour- on the shores of it the French
built their little town which became a base of the French army and
the fleet. You may visit places connected with the name of legendary
sister of charity Florence Nightingale, and you will have an
opportunity to pay homage to the memory of soldiers and officers who
struggled under different banners... In Sevastopol you
will be able to inspect redoubts and bastions which defended the
city: these include famous Malakhov Mound and "The Big Redan" as the
British used to call the 3d bastion. On the former 4th bastion where
artillery officer Leo Tolstoy fought, you will see the
well-preserved guns and the remnants of the fortifications. And
visited the Panorama "Defense of Sevastopol 1854-55" you will
feel like staying in the besieged city... At same time you can
get acquainted with other objects of interest of the Crimea. You may see the ruins of the ancient city of
Chersoneses of Tauride in
Sevastopol and khan's palace at Bakhchisaray glorified by poets.
