During the reign of Prince Aleksey (1420-1456), who established friendly
relations with Crimean Khanate, the Principality of Theodoro reached its
prosperity and even had its own port.
In 1475 the Turks besieged Mangup, ruined the fortress and erected the
castle. The historians believe that the last inhabitants left when Crimean
joined up with Russia.
